FAQ
Frequently asked questions.
What Algocyte is, how it works, and where it is on the path to clinical use.
What does Algocyte Proxima measure?
+
Algocyte returns a full blood count (FBC) from a finger prick or shoulder patch small sample in under 20 minutes. In a future release, over time, it will build a personal baseline for each individual, so it can identify meaningful changes rather than relying on population averages only (incumbent).
How is the sample collected?
+
Venous, finger prick or shoulder patch — no phlebotomist required.
What is physics-informed AI?
+
Unlike other devices of the same type, Algocyte Proxima has two independent sensors which independently check the results of each other. It means each result is interpreted using models grounded in physics and biology, not pattern-matching AI or a single sensor. The interpretation is anchored to how the sensors and the underlying biology actually behave.
Does Algocyte Proxima or Algocyte Hub replace my doctor or my usual blood tests?
+
No. Algocyte adds to and supports existing monitoring and clinical care. It does not replace laboratory services, and your clinician remains responsible for decisions about your care.
Who operates the Algocyte Proxima?
+
It is designed to be used without specialist staff, under an agreed protocol.
How do results generated by Algocyte Proxima reach a clinician?
+
Results flow to a clinician dashboard who can then share with the user or patient. EHR integration capability.
Do I need mains power or fixed broadband?
+
Proxima is designed to operate over mains and Ethernet or Wi-Fi, but can also operate over 5G and even 4G hotspots, and can run autonomously without mains power via a small external power bank.
How is my data protected?
+
All the Algocyte's system's architecture is built to UK GDPR standards with granular consent, and you choose who to share results with, and when. Information security is independently certified to ISO/IEC 27001.
Where was Algocyte developed?
+
Algocyte is a King's College London spinout, incubated by Oxford and further developed with research from the Cambridge ecosystem by way of the founder's multiple years in the UK's Golden Triangle. Algocyte and Algocyte Proxima are designed and made in Britain.
