London, United Kingdom, 7 November 2026 — Algocyte is bringing an exceptional team into the company and building its Future Rapid Diagnostics Division through its first acquisition. Oxford Immune Algorithmics (OIA), the company behind Algocyte, has signed a letter of intent for the proposed acquisition of Antibody Design Ltd (ABD).
A new division for future diagnostics
Subject to completion, ABD will become Algocyte's Future Rapid Diagnostics Division. Its team and expertise will join the effort to expand the blood panel tests that Algocyte Proxima can run beyond today's full blood count (FBC), and to develop future diagnostic capabilities as Algocyte continues to grow, adding talent and moving into new, larger offices. Any new tests remain in development and subject to regulatory approval.
The division is already working on an Algocyte Proxima expansion to release the first new blood test prototype, for liver function, early in 2027. Regulatory compliance work will follow soon after, and an NHS pilot is already being planned with a major cancer hub. Liver function testing remains in development and subject to regulatory approval.
Proposed Algocyte roles
The proposed Algocyte roles, subject to completion and final appointments, are:
- Dr Alex Ramirez, PhD — Head of Strategy. A biochemist by training, Alex contributed to Novartis's R&D efforts on the breakthrough Meningitis B vaccine Bexsero® and held senior leadership posts as Head of Discovery at iQur and CEO of Antibody Design. He will take a high-level strategic business role at company-wide level.
- Prof. William Rosenberg — Clinical and Health Economics Advisor. A physician and consultant hepatologist, he holds the Peter Scheer Chair of Liver Diseases at University College London (UCL) and co-founded the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine at Oxford. William co-invented the Enhanced Liver Fibrosis (ELF) test, developed with Siemens Healthineers. Currently serving as National Associate Director in the NIHR Research Delivery Network, his insights will be instrumental in navigating clinical trial infrastructure, clinical pathways and health system integration.
The rest of the ABD team is introduced on Antibody Design's page.
Bringing more testing closer to the patient
Together, this team brings valuable depth in biotech research, clinical diagnostics and biosensing. Algocyte will combine that expertise with the Algocyte Ecosystem to build new assays and cartridges, bringing more testing closer to the patient and moving towards Algocyte's long-term vision: a full diagnostics lab and a super-intelligent health platform in people's homes.
The transaction remains subject to definitive agreements.
